The dirtlej Version

OUT THERE IS WHERE IT STARTS.

On our trips, the bike comes first. We work with local guides, real trails and small groups. That gives us maximum flexibility for the weather, the conditions and, most importantly, the pace on the trail.

01 PURE TRAIL.

02 MAXIMUM FOCUS.

03 AUTHENTIC.

04 A PROPER BIKE TRIP.

How to rate my riding skills?
Beginner / Novice

You have limited off-road experience. You are comfortable with basic bike handling, braking, and gear shifting on easy terrain.

Green Trails (Easy): Wide, smooth forest roads, gentle singletrack with very few small roots or rocks. You often dismount for anything technical or steep.

Intermediate

You are confident riding on various off-road surfaces. You can maintain control on singletrack with moderate features, and you ride at a steady pace.

Blue Trails (Moderate): Moderately steep singletrack, unavoidable rocks and roots (up to ≈8 inches / 20 cm), tight corners, and small manufactured features like small berms. You may dismount for larger features.

Advanced

You have excellent bike control and are comfortable riding technical terrain at speed. You can handle drops and jumps and can choose a good line through challenging sections.

Black Diamond Trails (Difficult): Steep descents, large, unavoidable obstacles (rocks, roots, steps up to ≈15 inches / 38 cm), small to medium drops and jumps (mandatory air is common), and tight, technical switchbacks.

Expert / Pro

You are consistently confident on any type of terrain, comfortable with high speeds, and possess advanced techniques like manuals, bunny-hops, and nose pivots. You ride confidently in all weather conditions.

Double Black Diamond Trails (Severe/Pro): Very steep terrain, large mandatory drops and jumps, complex rock gardens, highly exposed sections, and unpredictable, variable surfaces. You are comfortable riding all features quickly and smoothly.

How to rate my fitness level?
Level A - Casual Rider

You exercise occasionally but not regularly for cycling. Short bursts of uphill effort are challenging.

Can ride up to ≈2−3 hours total per day. Max total elevation gain of ≈300m to 500m. Needs frequent breaks.

Level B - Sporty / Fit

You ride your bike or exercise 2−3 times per week. You are comfortable with a sustained, moderate pace on ascents.

Can ride up to ≈4−5 hours per day for several consecutive days. Total elevation gain of ≈500m to 1,000m per day.

Level C - Strong / Athlete

You ride or train 3+ times per week and are in excellent physical condition. You can sustain a fast, hard pace for extended periods.

Can ride ≈5−7 hours per day for multiple days in a row. Total elevation gain of ≈1,000m to 1,500m or more, including hike-a-bike sections.

Can I join on my own?

Yes. The trip is designed for small groups of solo travellers as well as friends travelling together.

Do I need additional insurance?

We highly recommend travel cancellation insurance and accident insurance.

What is the main language with the guides?

The main language spoken by our guides will be English. Our local guides are experts of the area and many have helped build the trails. They are perfectly suited to show you around and take you to all the secret spots. While they may speak the local language (e.g., Italian), English will be the common language for communication, both with your guides and potentially with other riders from diverse backgrounds.
